A millions tweets a million stars

So its official and real. Ashton kutcher beat CNN to a million subscriber’s to his twitter account. Just shows you that his thoughts (and pics of Demi in her underthings) can trump hard news anytime. What does that mean for a business owner? Just that sensationalism works…which we already know ..again.People would rather hear something that tickles their ear rather then relevant information. What Twitter has shown us is that people will voluntarily sign up to get bombarded by your tweets as long as its unique and cool or thought provoking, not stagnant or simply advertising. That means you need to be careful in how you phrase your 140 characters as well as personal. Instead of lambasting them with facts or figures or sales mention or talk about something that is personal. Then follow up with an ” oh by the way” special service or price or product for a limited time. Not only will your followers not get bored but they will feel that your thinking more about them then about your product, service or company.

by the way Electronic arts so far has been the only big company to attach itself to the duel on twitter. EA Jumps Into Ashton Kutcher-CNN Twitter Race

It will be interesting to see if any other companies will wake up to this type of marketing phenom and start twitter duels of there own!
