I actually got this flyer at a coffee shop in Seattle, WA last Friday. Boconcept is an international design company that does interior design and furniture as well.Tthey are doing a juried contest for designing a cool cup and you can see the contest here. Great user interface with a wonderful selection of shapes, colors and the ability to download the template for you to really customize a design. But again its so dissapointing to see a great concept fall short. The only way to show off your design is on their website. The only way to tell your friends is by emailing them through BoConcepts website. There is no use of flickr or photostram or a facebook fansite showing off the designs and no use of Zazzle.com. I do recommend designing your own cup its a lot of fun but take a serious look at how much time and great effort went into designing the creative user experience. Great job but unless people go to your website how are they to know. And designers love to tell their friends and show them what they did( see papercritters.com ) and that is not shown here. Hopefully they will be able to add social media to this contest before it ends in December.

Yep nothing is ever free right!?

Well not entirely true it will cost you something in your labor ,but Flickr is a great way to catalogue your products or services. Not only does it thumbnail your pics but it also allows viewers a chance to see high resolution pics as well. For a cragislist, yelp, flipped or other social media site that allows you to post stuff for sale you can embed a link to view these images. Craigslist for example allows you to post photos but there resolution is not that great.

For an artist, studio, or designer Flickr is a must to gather a following and a great way to exposure of what you can do.

For a retailer its a great way to have a catalogue of your products that you can easily point to and if your hard drive crashes or you lose an image a great place to easily store them as well. Just remember it is out in public for all to see, use or grab.
